Mslexia Women’s Short Fiction Competition 2017
now has two categories for previously unpublished work by women writers:
Short Story, for previously unpublished stories of up to 3,000,
and Flash Fiction, for tales of up to 300 words.
Short Story
Judge: Deborah Levy
1st Prize: £2,000 plus two optional extras:
a week’s writing retreat at Gladstone’s Library* and a day with a Virago editor**
Three finalists win £100 each.
All four winning stories will be published in issue 74 of Mslexia, published in June 2017.
CLOSING DATE: 20 March 2017
Entry fee: £10 per story.
* The Gladstone’s Library retreat is accommodation and food only,
dates to be agreed between Gladstone’s and the competition winner.
** The day with a Virago editor must be taken at a time that is suitable to both
Virago and to the competition winner.
The winner is responsible
for any other expenses involved with attending the day with a Virago editor, i.e travel, food, etc.
The prizes are optional additions to the £2,000 first prize.
The prizes must be taken by 30 November 2018.
